(Des Moines) To secure Iowa Tax dollars, State Auditor Rob Sands is encouraging schools across the state to apply for rebates offered by the EPA’s 2022 Clean School Bus Program.
The application process closes on August 19, and the EPA will offer eligible school districts up to $500 billion to replace old school buses with new zero-0emission and low-emission school buses.
Sands says grants, rebates, or contracts are available for up to 100 percent of the cost of replacement buses and charging and fuel stations.
The EPA may also prioritize applications from rural school districts, high-need location education agencies, and tribal schools. In Iowa, more than 200 school districts meet the prioritized districts.
CAM and Griswold are two area district’s on the priority list.
