(Atlantic) The Atlantic Parks and Recreation Board is continuing their planning for a Splash Pad at Sunnyside Park.
Atlantic Parks and Recreation Director Bryant Rasmussen told the Park Board Monday night he has three companies that has responded with plans for a Splash Pad including Aquatix, Rain Deck and Crouch Recreation.
The Board decided to plan a work session some time around the second week of August to go over the plans and they will be inviting each of the companies to give a presentation.
Atlantic City Clerk Barb Barrick told the Board that there is quite a bit of money in the Recreation Improvement Reserve because both Local Option Sales Tax and Hotel/Motel tax came in over the estimated amounts. So, the Council approved a transfer from the Park Improvement Reserve Fund to set up two new Capital Project funds; one for a Splash Park with $50,000 in the fund, and one for an Inclusive Playground with $25,000 in the fund.
In other news, Rasmussen also presented plans for playground equipment at Harl Holt Park. He said he reached out to several different companies and two responded: Crouch Recreation and Cunningham Recreation. Rasmussen said this is something they had budgeted for last year, but it was moved to this fiscal year. The Board would like to hear more information from both companies; therefore, no action was taken.
