(Elk Horn) The Exira-EHK School District has filled several vacancies including middle/high school principal.
Current Principal Nate McDonald has accepted a similar position at Missouri Valley. Erika Van Cleave was the district’s pick for the opening. “She’s currently the Assistant Principal/Special Education Director at Riverside. Before that she was at AHSTW as a Teacher and Instructional coach. So she’s got a really good instructional background.” Superintendent Trevor Miller says, “The team we had that conducted the interview was very impressed with her. We are excited to have her. We are not excited to see Nate leaving, but we understand his situation. For this late in the year I think Erika is a great fit for our district. I think she’ll do good things and continue moving our culture, climate, and education forward at Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton.”
Other new hires include: Waylon Salinas (4th Grade Teacher), Brandon Baggett (HS English Teacher), Amanda Warnaca (MS Special Education Teacher), Carme Prunera (Spanish Teacher), Paula Yates (Food Service), and Maria Hughes (Assistant JH/HS Track Coach).
Elsewhere the board approved a bid from PCS for concrete work on the north side of the Exira building.
