Barbara Lee Drake, 93, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away on December 10, 2021, at the Heritage House
in Atlantic, Iowa.
She was born April 17, 1928, in Atlantic, Iowa, the daughter of Rollie and Anna (Michaelson)
Hoffman. Barbara lived in Atlantic her entire life attending Atlantic High School there and
graduating with the class of 1947. On June 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to Claude O.

Barbara was employed for many years at the Atlantic School lunchroom, where she helped prep
the food line and punched the lunch tickets as the students came through. She enjoyed working and having a little spending money of her own and yet being home when her daughters
came home from school. She was an assistant Brownie and Girl Scout leader and enjoyed
that very much. Barbara loved her neighborhood friends and all the picnics when they got
together and shared food and laughter. Her greatest love was that of her daughters, son-in-law,
her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sisters, and her “best friend Verlee.
She was preceded in death by her husband Claude O Drake, her son Terry, her parents Rollie and
Anna Hoffman; her sisters Pat Loewenstein and Colleen Rhodes, brother in law Robert Rhodes
and nephew Rodney Rhodes.
