(Anita) Rolling Valley Conference golf competitions are scheduled for Monday afternoon in Anita and Atlantic.
Boys squads will compete at Crestwood Hills Golf Course with the girls playing at Atlantic Golf and Country Club. The CAM boys are coming off of a good showing at their home meet last Saturday. Cougar coach Joe Wollum says, “Probably the highlight was our 2nd place finish at the Dale Erickson at home last weekend and Chase Jahde bringing home medalist honors. It’s been a while since we’ve got some hardware in our own tournament. We were able to get second and for a freshman like Chase to come in and win the whole thing was pretty cool.”
Leading the way has been freshman Chase Jahde. He’s averaging 42 strokes per nine holes. “He’s pretty good from driver all the way to the putter. He hits the ball a long ways off the tee, he has good iron play, he’s also very intelligent. He’s played a lot of golf tournaments. He knows how to work his his way around the course and he can make some putts too. He’s a very well rounded young man.”
The supporting cast has performed well also. “We are real excited. Seth Hensley decided to come out this year. He’s a strong golfer for us golfing in the #2 spot. He’s been playing well and has a great temperament for golf. Seth has been a pleasant surprise. Bradyn Bohnsack has been our next lowest scorer coming in so we are excited about that. Carson Cary has also had a really strong start to the spring.” Veterans Logan Lawrence and Gavyn Jessen round out the lineup and Wollum looks for them to get on track soon.
The girls team has just two members. Coach Wollum says Reese Snyder and Mady McKee are performing well. “Really good. They are both off to good starts. You look back to year’s past and see they are starting off better than they did a year ago. They both finished really strong. I think once we get some nice weather and less windy days we’ll see both of their scores come down a little bit. They are averaging up around 51-52. They’ll get down in the 40’s and are going to be very competitive golfers for us.”
Monday’s Rolling Valley Conference Golf Meets are scheduled to tee off at 4:00 p.m.
