(Osceola, IA) — Osceola’s Main Street was closed today (Wednesday) after firefighters worked overnight battling a major fire at a vacant downtown building. The first reports came in at about 11:00 p-m. People living in an adjacent apartment building were safely evacuated. The fire chief says a firewall kept the flames from spreading next door. Crews were able to leave the scene at about 6:30 a-m. No injuries were reported. An investigation will be conducted to learn the cause of the fire.
