(Lewis) DNR Fisheries Biologist Brian Hayes says while ice fishing conditions have been good, it’s time to take note as the ice starts to deteriorate as the temperatures begin to warm up.
Hayes says to watch for a change in color, texture, and water seeping down through the ice.
Hayes says the ice fishing season isn’t over yet, but when the mid-February forecasts approach 40-degree temperatures, the ice starts to deteriorate.
