(Audubon) The Audubon County Board of Supervisors received good news on a road construction project during their weekly meeting on Tuesday.
Costs for a project on F32 will be less than expected. “The bids came in on a project F32 east out of Audubon and on M66 north of Kimballton. Those bids came in below what we expected just a little bit, so that was good news. It leaves a little bit of extra money to do something else. We discussed some other projects we might do. Not a lot of money–$125,000 or so–but it’s a starter on some small projects.”
The $3.2 million project is scheduled for next summer. “Grading off the top portion of the asphalt, putting down new asphalt, and it’s actually going to be widened out. They will asphalt the shoulders as well. It’s all the way from Audubon to a mile in Guthrie County and then Guthrie Count would reimburse us for their one mile portion of it.”
Supervisor’s Chairman Doug Sorensen says the Board also discussed COVID leave. “We talked about COVID leave benefits for county workers. We have a new county employee within that past year that has run out of sick time and vacation time. We don’t want them to run out of benefits so we talked about what to do. It’s bad enough to not have any pay and nobody is in that position because they want to be. We don’t want to lose an employee so we’ll try to do what we can for them.”
No action regarding COVID leave was taken during Tuesday’s meeting. The Supervisors this week agreed to a new three year contract for County Engineer Mitch Rydl. It comes with a 5% raise for next year along with increases of 4% and 3% in the following years.
