(Nodaway) Iowa District #11 State Senator Tom Shipley says any decision made on the State’s Income Tax won’t happen overnight. Both emergency funds have over $300 million, with $1.5 billion in the taxpayer relief fund.
Senator Shipley is in favor of eliminating the State Income Tax, but he says it’s something that won’t happen in one session.
Shipley says legislators will be reviewing some tax changes simply because of the excessive funds already in place.
The Republican Senator says adding a sales tax to some items could help offset the lost revenue if some lawmakers decide to do away with the State Income Tax.
Senator Shipley says any tax changes will first go through the Ways and Means Committee.
