(Avoca) On Wednesday, the Iowa Economic Development Authority awarded $100,000 to Radberry’s Bakery and Café in Avoca, as one of 13 communities receiving a Main Street Iowa Challenge Grant.
According to the press release, Radberry’s Bakery is transforming a vacant office building in Avoca into a bakery and cafe’’ for brick-and-mortar expansion.
The grants benefit local building projects that contribute to the economic development of designated Main Street Iowa Districts.
The IEDA administers the matching grants through IEDA’s Iowa Downtown Resource Center and Main Street Iowa programs.
The IEDA announced they awarded $1,205,000 to the 13 different community projects across the state.
Since the first Challenge Grants in 2002, approximately $12.8 million in state and federal funds have leveraged nearly $65 million in private investment.
