(Harlan) The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reports five arrests from October 1 through October 9.
On October 9, deputies arrested a Logan, Iowa woman following a report of a vehicle fire in rural Shelby County. Authorities responding to the call arrested 53-year old Tina Marie Hilts of Logan, Iowa, for OWI, 1st offense, child endangerment, and reckless driving. Deputies transported Hilts to the Shelby County Jail and held her pending an appearance in front of the magistrate. Later that evening, Authorities released Hilts after she posted the $2,000 bond.
On October 11, deputies arrested 38-year-old Shane Michael Givehand of Omaha on a statewide warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of forgery in Pottawattamie District Court. Givehand posted the required cash bond and a future court date to appear.
On October 10, Shelby County Deputies arrested 23-year-old Alex Michael Petersen of Avoca following a traffic stop along Highway 59 in Shelby County. Officers stopped Petersen for traffic violations, and upon further investigation, deputies charged him with OWI, 1st offense, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and operating a non-registered vehicle. Deputies transported Petersen to jail without incident and held him on a $1000 cash or surety bond. Authorities released him the following morning on his recognizance.
On October 6, the Iowa State Patrol arrested 26-year-old Samantha Marie Swanson of Council Bluffs following a traffic stop in Shelby County for Driving while barred habitual offender, improper use of registration, and no proof of insurance. Authorities released Swanson later that afternoon after posting the required surety bond.
On October 1, deputies arrested 30-year-old Kaleigh Marie Turner following a traffic stop and charged her with driving under suspension. Authorities her a short time later after posting the required cash bond.
