(Atlantic) This evening, the Atlantic Community School District is honoring the undefeated 1970 Atlantic Football team and first responders at Trojan Bowl before and at halftime of the Atlantic vs. Shenandoah Football game.
Atlantic High School Athletic Director Andy Mitchell says a tailgate party starts at 5:30 p.m. for all first responders, particularly those helping put out the fire at the middle school this past July. Mitchell says all first responders eat for free and five dollars for everyone else.
Mitchell says at 6:40 p.m., the undefeated 1970 Atlantic Football team will be honored before the game.
Following the Marching Band’s performance at halftime, the first responders will be honored on the field. In addition to that, all fans are encouraged to wear blue in memory of Shenandoah student Grace Johnson, who lost her life in an automobile accident.
The Atlantic High School students signed a banner with Grace Johnson’s hashtag, which will take place at halftime.
