(Atlantic) The Iowa Association of School Boards held a retreat with the Atlantic School Board in regards to planning and goal setting.
Atlantic Schools Superintendent Steve Barber says the retreat is used for professional development for the board and the superintendent, and a few building Principals attended the meeting as well. “We worked on the instructional framework and improving instruction as teachers,” explained Barber. “And also how can we created a positive working environment by celebrating successes and letting people know what they do matters.”
Barber says these topics will be discussed at future board meetings.
The school board held a regular meeting following the retreat. The board accepted resignations from Middle School Special Education Para-educator Megan Mewhirter, and Kerri Denison, English Language Learner Para-educator.
The board approved contracts for Stephanie Kloewer, Bus Monitor, Monte Dressler, Bus Mechanic/School Bus Route Driver, and Chris Kennedy, Substitute Car Route Driver and Preschool Monitor.
