(Anita) As part of KSOM’s regular season football coverage, we will be highlighting a player each week that deserves some recognition that might not be otherwise be noticed based on statistics.
Coaches have been asked to identify athletes that exhibit an excellent work ethic, are good teammates, and do things the right way. CAM junior Gabe Rouse has been selected as that player for Week 1.
Rouse says, “I just like working hard and pushing my teammates and helping them get better. What helps me keep going is a love for the game and a love for God.” He says the team’s goal is to at least get to the dome. They are excited for the matchups with Fremont-Mills and Audubon just to name a couple as those are the two teams that have eliminated them in the playoffs the last two years.
He takes great pride in helping teammates in practice. “That’s really fun. Pushing your teammates and helping them get better you see that on the field, you contributed to the team. You’re not getting the recognition for it, but you know in your heart you may have helped these guys win that game. It’s a good feeling.”
The interview with Rouse will air during halftime of Friday’s CAM at Fremont-Mills broadcast on KSOM. It can also be heard below:
