(Atlantic) On Wednesday, the Atlantic City Council voted 6-1 to hire the company “Retail Coach” for Retail Recruitment and related services. The cost of the contract is $30,000 plus $2,500 of reimbursable expenses.
The firm will identify retail opportunities within the City of Atlantic, recruit retailers, coach the community, help fill gaps, and ultimately act as an extension to the current staff, particularly how it relates to retail.
The Council voted 6-1 to hire the company. Kathy Somers, Linda Hartkoph, Gerald Brink, Jim Behrens, Pat McCurdy, and Grace Garrett voted in favor of the contract. Dick Casady cast the lone no vote. Casady stated he feels the City can better spend the money elsewhere.

City Councilperson Grace Garrett says it’s also time to spruce up the town before Retail Coach representatives visit Atlantic. In fact, she is willing to volunteer, and she even does windows.
The company has been in business for 20-years and currently serves 120 communities in 40 states. At a previous virtual meeting with the council, company representatives stated that they’d added five million square feet of retail space to its clients over the past five years.
