(Red Oak) Red Oak Police report an accident that totaled two vehicles and caused property damage.
Officers were called to the intersection of North 2nd Street and East Maple Street for a two vehicle personal injury accident at 8:50 Tuesday morning. Once on scene, it was determined neither driver needed medical attention. A 2004 Chevy Silverado driven by 75-year-old Carroll Thuman, of Red Oak, was southbound on North 2nd street approaching the uncontrolled intersection and did not see an eastbound 2002 Ford F-150 driven by 25-year-old Jacob Orr, of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Thuman’s vehicle collided with Orr’s in the rear driver’s side door. The momentum pushed Orr’s pickup into the curb, breaking off a large chunk of concrete and then coming to rest partially in the yard. Thuman’s pickup jumped the curb and hit a guide wire to the light pole. It broke the cable and the light pole wire.
Both vehicles are a total loss and were towed from the scene. Damage to the curb is estimated at $1,000 and damage to the light pole is estimated at $500. Thuman is cited for Failing to Yield.
