(Anita) An 18-hole boys golf tournament will be held Saturday at Crestwood Hills in Anita.
CAM is hosting Panorama, Exira-EHK, East Mills, Audubon, Fremont-Mills, and Bedford. The goal for the Cougars is to finish in the top three. Coach Joe Wollum says, “It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a medal and we give out medals to the top three teams. That’s something we are tyring to do. It’s going to be tough. Panorama is there and they are one of the best teams in Southwest Iowa year in and year out. So we know that’s going to be stiff competition.”
CAM has already had a few competitions under their belt which may give them a leg up on some other programs. “It’s been nice to get out and compete. A lot of other schools haven’t had any or only one so we’re thankful to get out on the course a few times.”
They’ve had some players step up while others are still looking to get on track. “Peyton Jessen has our low round of the year with a 45 so he’s been one of the highlights. Wyatt and Walker Gettler’s improvement and what they are contributing right now has been maybe unexpected. We are excited about those two and where they continue to go. Logan Lawrence and Ethan Arp they need to improve their scores a little bit. Carson Cary had a good meet for us the other day in the 40’s. Our guys team is getting closer. We aren’t where we want to be yet, but we are trending in the right way.”
Saturday’s tournament tees off at 9:00 a.m.
