(Elk Horn) Exira-EHK has very little experience on their boys track roster this spring.
Here’s head coach Kevin Brown. “We have twelve boys currently out. We have nine freshmen, two sophomores, and a junior. We are super young. Only one of our boys has high school track experience. That’s junior Tyler Kingery and he’s going to be our leader for us in the high jump and sprints. We have sophomore Trey Petersen that brings some leadership to our young core. We also have freshman Eric Wilson, he’s the brother of Evan Wilson and we are looking for him to score some points in the two-mile, mile, and possibly 800.”
With so much youth they’ve had to start at square one in practice. “We have to go over all the basics. Most of these kids haven’t done track since 7th grade. We are going after blocks, handoffs, and running form. We are just going baby steps right now trying to get some miles in them and get them back up to speed.”
Brown says most of the runners are versatile between sprints and mid-distance.
