(Des Moines) Iowa District 21 Representative Tom Moore says a bill is being presented that would require public schools and accredited nonpublic schools to administer the pledge of allegiance each day.
Moore says the bill offers exceptions for nonpublic religious schools, and no student is forced to recite the pledge if they do not want to.
Currently, Iowa is one of few states that do not codify the pledge of allegiance in schools. Moore believes that the pledge is one thing that can unite all Americans regardless of political beliefs.
Tuesday night, this bill passed the House with a vote of 90-3-7.
