(Atlantic) On Wednesday night, the Atlantic School Board authorized the advertisement of bids and set a date for a Public Hearing for the High School Parking Lot Project.
The resolution allows the district to advertise for bids and sets a public hearing for March 10 to replace the high school’s west parking lot.
Dave Sturm of Snyder and Associates said parking will be replaced with 7-inch concrete and include an additional 17- 20-additional parking stalls without adding extra concrete. “The plans and specifications are complete and include the recycling of the existing concrete as well as the additional use of the drainage tile,” said Sturm.
Sturm says the project also includes the widening of the entryway into the high school parking lot. “We’re able to add about three-and-half feet of widening at the narrowest spot and tapers back to the existing concrete by the sidewalk on the south end,” said Sturm. “This should help out a lot with buses forced to hop the curve.”
Sturm says the project also includes the replacement of the front entryway sidewalk.
Sturm says the plans and specifications will go out on Thursday. The bids are due before the March 10 School Board meeting.
The School Board also awarded the Middle School roofing project to McDermott & Roofing for $122,529.87.
Dave Sturm of Snyders and Associates provided a cost estimate to redo most of the middle school roof for $135,000. Both McDermott Roofing and Elevate Roofing provided a bid to complete the project. McDermott & Son’s Roofing bid was about 10-percent below the cost estimate.
