(Atlantic) Libraries at Washington and Schuler Elementary in Atlantic have extra money to go towards purchasing books thanks to the Atlantic Rotary Club.
The Rotary Club announced a donation of $500 to each library. Librarian Janice Dickerson says she’ll be updating the non-fiction selection with the gift. “Oh it’s a great help. We receive a budget by the principals, but unfortunately books cost between $15 and $20 each. So I usually put most of my money into upgrading the fiction for the kids. This will be be an opportunity to upgrade our non-fiction as well.”
Dickerson explains the Atlantic School Foundation was willing to match any amount Dickerson was able to raise. “I decided to try several places in Atlantic with Rotary being one of them.”
Supporting education is listed as one of the Rotary Club’s key pillars of community service.
