(Elk Horn) A handful of staff members in the Exira-EHK school district have missed time due to COVID-19.
Superintendent Trevor Miller says the district continues to evaluate their best learning model with the staff they have available. “So far, we’ve been able to stay onsite, which is a plus. We keep having some of our staff in and out, but so far, we’ve been lucky enough staff to cover for subs. We keep trying to figure out if we do have a larger outbreak. Those are just some things that you have to be prepared for because you never know what tomorrow might bring.”
The district has opted to continue using Wednesday as a distance learning day each week through the rest of the 2nd quarter. “We are going to keep that in place. I think it’s a huge bonus for our staff and our remote learners. The ones that are onsite have work to do on Wednesday and are distance learning, so we are still getting to count it as a day. The staff gets a chance to work with students one on one in small groups because when we were out of school from March to Mary, we had some gaps in our learning.”
Miller adds they are working to decide on the format of parent/teacher conferences and may do a combination of virtual and in person.
