(Atlantic) Cass County Engineer Trent Wolken told the Board of Supervisors Tuesday that he plans to submit paperwork for federal funding from a grant program for bridges across the state of Iowa.
The County Engineer’s Association is going to hire a consultant to do the grant paperwork which will cost approximately $100,000, so each county that submits a candidate will have to pay a part of that fee. Wolken said all of this is fluid, but it is possible that the grant could be up to 25-million dollars for the state of Iowa.
Wolken said he is planning on submitting bridge #319 on Highland Road west of Atlantic over Indian Creek. The estimated cost of that project is $1.5 million.
Wolken said he has to submit his paperwork by September 30th.
