(Atlantic) April 1, 2020, marked the 100th anniversary of the Atlantic Rotary Club.
Each year, the Rotary Club’s annual dinner and auction raises money for scholarships, local grants, and sponsors the Teacher of the Year Award. Since the inaugural dinner and auction in 1984, this organization has donated over one million dollars back into the community.
“The community of Atlantic is exceptional,” stated Rotarian Dolly Bergmann, in a previous interview. “It doesn’t matter what their involved in; they step up and contribute. Those people that have participated in the Rotary Auction, whether be a donation or purchasing items, can feel good knowing all that money stays right here in this community.”
On Tuesday, the Rotarians held their regular meeting at the new Rotary Shelter at the Schildberg Recreation Area. The club donated around $20,000.00 towards the construction of the structure.
Rotary is an international organization with a motto of service above self, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
The Atlantic Rotary Club has 62 members and meets every Tuesday at noon.
