(Guthrie Center) A new location for jury selection has been established in Guthrie County.
The Board of Supervisors met Tuesday and discussed the change with County Attorney Brenna Bird along with District Court Judge Tom Murphy. County Auditor Dani Fink explains, “They came in because they wanted to talk to the board of supervisors about moving jury selection to an outside venue. They have to respect social distancing guidelines and they can’t do that in the court room without breaking into smaller groups and that leading to longer days.”
The First Baptist Church which is located across the street from the courthouse was selected as their first option with an alternate choice being the events center at the fairgrounds.
Bids are being reviewed for an aluminum box culvert project. “There were five bids that were received. They opened each bid today, but didn’t award the bid today. The engineer took them back to his office to review and then they’ll come back next week to award.”
Plans have been adjusted for the Law Enforcement Center Addition. “Last week a design that was presented had altered the front of the Law Enforcement Center. It had taken out several of the windows and they didn’t care for the design and how it flowed with the current courthouse. They asked for it to be updated, so it was updated and the board approved the new design.”
