(AC/GC) A student in the AC/GC School District tested positive for COVID-19 on the first day of school.
Guthrie County Public Health contacted the school district on Monday regarding the positive case and under the guidance of Public Health the school district began contact tracing for the student. In a notice sent to students and parents, Superintendent Dennis McClain said that while they are disappointed that this happened the first day of school, they did learn that steps they have taken at school helped to mitigate the spread. Due to social distancing in classrooms, very few students were asked to quarantine due to being in close contact for more than 15 minutes with the positive case during class. Most of the students quarantined were on the varsity volleyball team and were quarantined because they sat together while watching the JV teams play at a scrimmage on Friday.
AC/GC is reviewing their game-time procedures to further protect student athletes.
Everyone is encouraged to implement personal protective measures to continue to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
