(Atlantic) Trojan Bowl is beginning to look more and more like a football stadium, and a new stadium when work is completed. On Wednesday morning, construction crews installed the new press box on the west side or the home side of the bleachers.
The Trojan Bowl renovation project is part of a $9.5 million athletic facilities upgrade which includes, synthetic turf, one new concession stand, a new main entrance, expanded restrooms, and a four-lane non-competitive rubber track. Additionally, new ADA compliant bleachers on the home and visitor sides, site paving, lighting, sound, and a new scoreboard.
The baseball and softball field’s improvements include; new dugouts, batting cages, concessions, press box, wrap around bleachers at the softball complex, a hard surface walkway between the two fields, and higher fencing between the two diamonds, an improved drainage system and a level playing surface at the baseball field.
The improvements at the high school include; four new tennis courts, new track, new concession stand, synthetic turf at the soccer field, and new shot put and discus rings.
Phase I of the project was completed before the 2019-2020 school year. That part of the project included a new parking lot for the Washington Elementary Staff, a new bus loading and unloading area to reduce the congestion at Washington Elementary and the Middle School.
