(Corning) Southwest Valley Schools Superintendent Chris Fenster outlined the district’s return-to-learn plan at the Corning School Board meeting on Monday night.
Fenster says the district will have a virtual learning opportunity plan in place along with on-site learning. Southwest Valley is a 1:1 district and students wishing to stay at home will have the opportunity to check out chrome books and attend class much like a zoom meeting.
“We will have cameras in the classrooms and students can attend class from home,” explained Fenster. “Those students participating in on-site will have their temperatures taken at the door. The students will physically distance as much as possible. The gymnasium will be utilized as a lunchroom for high school students, and both the Villisca and Corning facilities will open up extra classrooms to allow students to spread out.”
Fenster says the safety and health of students and staff is the main focus. Masks are highly recommended for staff and students.
