(Guthrie Center) Guthrie County Public Health Director Jotham Arber updated the Board of Supervisors on COVID-19 in the county at their meeting Tuesday.
Arber had noted that they did 102 antibody tests over the weekend and they had four positives come back from those tests of people who have already had COVID-19. Auditor Dani Fink said Arber is estimating an additional 5 to 7 percent of Guthrie County’s population has already had COVID-19.
“He thinks by the end of everything Guthrie County could likely see 600 to 700 cases total. He said they’re not seeing a lot of hospitalizations, so that’s good, most of the cases are pretty mild.”
As of 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Guthrie County had 110 positive cases with 66 recovered.
Jotham Arber recommends that if social distancing is not an option, then wearing a mask will help to reduce the spread.
Dani Fink said the Supervisors then discussed and approved a mask policy, so anyone from the public who enters the courthouse will have to wear a mask. Staff at the Courthouse will also wear masks while in the common areas of the Courthouse.
