(Exira) Exira’s 4th of July Parade had a different look to it this year, but the Exira Community Club is still calling the event a success.
Community Club President Abby Rasmussen says numbers were down, but things went well. “I think overall we are happy we did it. The people that came were happy to have it. Everyone respected our guidelines. Everyone was spread out. The longer parade route helped. We were down about 1/3 of the entries and I think the crowd probably reflected that same amount.”
After being involved in the big decision to hold the parade this year, Rasmussen admits it is a relief to have pulled it off. “We can take a big breath now. We think everybody practiced the correct guidelines. Those that were there we heard positive feedback from. Now we start planning for next year.”
Albeit with low numbers, Rasmussen received positive feedback from vendors and carnival staff about how things went.
