(Atlantic) Rain Totals varied from two-three inches in Harrison County to just under one-tenth of an inch in Corning.
Cory Martin, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Des Moines says rainfall came after somewhat of a dry stretch. “Interestingly, we received a gustnado report which speaks of the dry conditions,” said Martin. “The wind kicked up dust, which is uncommon for this time of year when June is usually a wetter time of year. The good news we have several chances of rain over the weekend into early next week.”
Martin says showers and thunderstorms will redevelop mainly over central and southeast Iowa. The southwest region of the state will see an increased chance of rain on Sunday evening. “Some of these storms could be severe along with a threat for heavy rainfall,” said Martin. “However, as we saw last night, we didn’t any damaging reports from heavy rainfall so that the ground can certainly take it.”
Rain totals in the southwest and western Iowa included; Missouri Valley, 3.64 inches of rain, Mondamin, 2.75, and Logan 2.67 inches. Audubon received .80, Carroll, .40, Pacific Junction, .37, Atlantic and Harlan, .30, Shenandoah, .22, Massena, .16, and Coning .07.
