(Des Moines) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds today announced new testing sites in the southwest and west-central Iowa regions.
On Monday, the state announced five new testing sites, including four clinic sites in partnership between the state and local health care providers to increase access to testing in rural Iowa communities. She says clinics operate and staff while the state provides testing supplies and processes the samples through the State Hygienic Lab. “I’m proud to say we continue to add testing sites,” said Reynolds. “This is critical in our ability to manage and contain.”
Locations of TestIowa Clinic sites in southwest Iowa are now in Clarinda and Creston. Two other sites are located in Crawford and Carroll Counties and operated by St. Anthony Regional Hospital. One place opens today at the hospital in Carroll, and the other opens tomorrow at the St. Anthony Clinic in Denison. “This is one option to get tested individuals still have the option to go through your healthcare provider if that is necessary,” Reynolds said.
Governor Reynolds says hospitalization rates continue to trend downward. In early May, the high reached 417 patients hospitalized, and 164 Iowans in ICU. Currently, across the state, 245 COVID-19 patients hospitalized down from 255 on Tuesday, and down from 394 one month ago. There are 73 patients in ICU, compared to 82 on Tuesday, and 152 one month ago.
