(Atlantic) The Atlantic and Lewis Fire Departments were called to a barn fire at 62706 610th Street just before 4:00 this afternoon.
Atlantic Fire Chief Tom Cappel said when they arrived on scene the biggest factor was the wind. “Once we got it knocked down and had AMU shut down the electrical lines we could get in there and start putting it out and just try to stop it from spreading any place else.”
Cappel said it was a steel shed that the owner had stored a mower and a boat in. “We’re just lucky somebody went by and saw it and we could get to it at the time that we did.”
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. No injuries were reported.
