(Des Moines) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds addressed the demonstrations this past weekend in support of George Floyd. The black man from Minneapolis died of asphyxiation from sustained pressure to the neck from a Minneapolis police officer.
The Governor voiced her support for the peaceful protests and condemned the violence.
Thousands of demonstrators showed up on the Capitol Steps, and the east village in Des Moines this past weekend and stood united in what started as a peaceful protest.
Polk County’s mandatory stay-at-home curfew continues today. The curfew runs from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. until further notice.
