(Atlantic) Officials from the Atlantic Walmart notified the Atlantic Police Department this afternoon of a possible threat made to their store. Store representatives took immediate precautions to protect the safety of their business and store employees and closed the doors at 5:00 p.m.
The Atlantic Police Department and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office followed up. They found no direct threat made to the local store.
Chief Erickson says the information was shared on a social media platform warning Atlantic residents of the possibility of an incident occurring. Erickson says this information came from a generalized post circulating on social media outlets about protests and riots moving from the Cities to the Suburbs.
The Atlantic Walmart store will continue to be closed for the evening, and local law enforcement agencies will be on alert. They will respond to situations as they arise.
