(Red Oak) Red Oak firefighters responded to a fire at the Red Oak Fabrication plant at 2400 N. Broadway in Red Oak on Tuesday.
Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce says the call went out at 10:26 a.m. Arriving firefighters located the blaze in a blasting booth inside the facility.
Chief Bruce says sparks shot into the filter housing as employees conducted maintenance on the blasting chamber. The filter housing sustained approximately $2,500.00 damage. Chief Bruce noted damage to the blasting chamber has yet to be determined.
The 75-employees evacuated the building without incident. There were no injuries to employees or emergency personnel.
The Red Oak Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Montgomery County EMA, and Montgomery County Communications assisted the Red Oak Fire Department.
