(Des Moines) The Iowa Department of Public Health reports 539 new cases of COVID-19 today for a statewide total of 12,912 positive cases.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds explained the uptick in numbers today, “If you’re following Iowa’s numbers on the COVID-19 Dashboard you’ll have noticed an uptick in positive cases reported today. I want to provide an important clarifying point about this total. Of today’s 539 new positive cases reported, 319 were among Iowans who were tested in Nebraska between April 28th and 30th tied to a processing plant. They were notified of the results shortly after being tested, but the reporting back to the state of Iowa was delayed, so those are included in today’s case counts.”
Another 18 people have died from COVID-19, bringing the total to 289 deaths.
81,288 Iowans have been tested.
5,618 Iowans have recovered from COVID-19.
