(Johnston) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is following a modified quarantine plan after her trip to Washington D.C. to discuss Iowa’s response to COVID-19. Then on Friday, Reynolds met with Vice-President Pence and Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst in Des Moines. During this time, Reynolds learned a member of the Vice-President’s staff tested positive for COVID-19. Officials notified Reynolds over the weekend that the individual was present during her visit to the White House. However, the Governor had no direct contact with her.
The Governor will stay home if she develops symptoms. Currently, many of the Governor’s team is working from home during this time, especially those at a higher health risk.
The Governor may slightly adjust the routine over the next several days to accommodate the situation. She will provide updates if something changes. But for now, Reynolds says she’s healthy, feeling good and entirely focused on leading Iowa’s response to the pandemic and Iowa’s economic recovery effort.
