(Anita) Campgrounds across the state will reopen today at 8:00 a.m. as part of Governor Reynolds’s efforts to loosen state guidelines.
Josh Peach, Lake Anita State Park Manager, says the campgrounds are open to campers with self-contained restrooms only. Self-contained is defined as a tent or pop-up camper with a portable toilet or an RV with a functioning self-contained bathroom. “It’s not going to be business as usual, but we want people to have the opportunity to camp because they’re getting tired of being stuck at home,” said Peach.
Peach says visitors will not be allowed in the campgrounds, only those occupying the campsites. Six occupants per camp, and restrooms, and playgrounds are closed. “We want to offer recreation to people in the safest manner possible.”
Lake Anita State Park has 161 campsites.
The DNR campground reservation system will start accepting reservations starting a 9:00 a.m. this morning. All other reservations will continue as reserved beginning May 15, unless otherwise notified directly by the DNR.
