(Stuart) The city of Stuart today was notified that a part-time Stuart Rescue staff member has tested positive for COVID-19.
The city part-time staff member has transported patients by ambulance previously to testing positive, but was without COVID-19 symptoms at that time. This individual is not currently working and will follow the CDC’s recommended recovery guidelines before returning to work. Stuart Rescue’s policy has been to wear N95 masks safety glasses/goggles and gloves with all patients since April. There were no patient contacts without the appropriate personal protective equipment in place. Facilities and equipment continue to be routinely and thoroughly cleaned and disinfected according to the CDC’s recommended guidelines.
The city of Stuart is working in coordination with Stuart Fire and Rescue to identify any potential contacts for follow up. The City of Stuart will notify each significant contact and offer instructions for preventing the spread of the disease including quarantine, isolation if sick and getting tested.
This is a reminder that our first responders are on the front lines helping to treat and transport our fellow citizens during this pandemic, including those with COVID-19. Stuart Fire and Rescue will continue to serve communities taking all recommended precautions to protect themselves and those they serve from exposure to any illness. There is no increased risk to the public or patients and the community should have confidence that they can feel safe when calling 911 for emergency services.
