(Des Moines) The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 528 additional positive cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the total to 9,169 positive cases. Of the over 500 new positive tests, 2,932 came back negative, for a total of 44,017 negative tests to date.
According to the IDPH, 77-percent of the new positive cases today are in the 22 counties where restrictions remain in place. The report said 378 individuals are currently hospitalized, and 3,325 patients have recovered from the sickness. One in 59 Iowans have been tested.
Nine more Iowans fell victim to the virus. The deaths occurred in Black Hawk County, ( 2 elderly adults), Dallas County, (1 older adult 61-80), Dubuque County, (1 older adult 61-80), Bremer County, (1 elderly adult 81+), Polk County, (2 older adults 61-80) and Poweshiek County, 2 elderly adults (81+).
The state of Iowa has released an updated dashboard on coronavirus.iowa.gov that will be updated daily to include comprehensive tracking of COVID-19 in Iowa. The new dashboard includes cases, deaths, and tests conducted in each county. The state is now providing demographic information that was not previously provided as well as Iowa’s epidemiological curve.
