(Harlan) The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has released details on the Celebration of Life Parade for Sergeant Donavon Dontje set for Saturday, May 2.
Staging for all Law Enforcement, Fire/EMS and the public will take place at the Harlan Community High School. Parking will be designated. You can find a map for parking on the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. Parking will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will be coordinated by volunteers in reflective vests. Social distancing will be practiced.
The procession will leave the school at 10:00 a.m. and proceed on Durant Street to the west, meeting Highway 59. The route will turn south on Highway 59 to Highway 44. It will turn west on Highway 44 and travel to county Road M-16 where it will turn south and proceed into the City of Shelby.
The public is invited to participate or park along the route and show their respects. For those who would rather park along the route, do not park vehicles on the shoulders of the route and instead utilize field driveways, gravel roads, and parking lots.
