(Orange City) An injury led to Ben Kingery’s decision to redshirt in his first football season at Northwestern College. The ACGC alum is a middle linebacker for the Red Raiders.
Kingery describes his initial year on campus as one that was really good with the team having a great season and producing two All-Americans. He learned a lot from the veterans. “Just being able to practice with them and learn from them with all of the little things technique wise and help me adjust to the speed of the college level, getting all the little tidbits of information makes my game better. It really helped and I’ll be forever thankful for those guys.
In seemingly every aspect, Kingery is happy to be a part of the program. “It seems that the juniors and seniors go out of their way to talk to you and I’m good friends with those guys and will be for a long time. The facilities and staff, strength coaches, and athletic trainers all of those guys are top tier. I think it’s a really good program and I’m really glad that I’m a part of it.”
Kingery admits he has some climbing of the depth chart to do if he wants to see varsity action this fall. The team went 9-2 last season and they return most of their talent in the skills positions. Kingery’s goal is to help the Red Raiders win a national championship before his career is over.
