(Guthrie Center) Noah Nelsen says he has no regrets from his freshman season at Simpson. The distance runner from ACGC was able to make the varsity lineup in cross country.
Nelsen was among the top seven on the team which was a goal of his going into the year. He says he puts in a lot more mileage than he used to and it paid off. “It was a tougher adjustment. In high school I probably hit a max of 30 miles per week and that’s pretty low for the college level.”
As a sophomore he’s looking to move up a few spots. “I’m hoping during cross country to solidify a scoring position, so looking to be 4th or 5th on the team.”
During indoor track he’ll focus on 5K’s, which he got his feet wet in as a freshman. He wants to get under 16:00. He says thankfully there are plenty of hills in Guthrie Center, but it’s more difficult to have to get all your work in individually.
Nelsen has three years of eligibility remaining indoors and four years of outdoor.
