(Atlantic) It was nearly one month ago when Iowa school districts closed as part of a mitigation effort by Governor Reynolds’ and the Iowa Department of Public Health to control the spread of COVID-19.
One of Atlantic High School Principal Heather McKay’s goals was to make sure the students were taken care of. Since that time McKay and her staff have been brainstorming with ideas to stay in contact with the students, and especially the seniors.
McKay says Kirchhoff, one of the high school para’s and a professional photographer came up with the “Front Porch Project,” started by a photographer in New England to help families document these unprecedented times. Photographers all over the world take to the streets and capture families on their front porches from the safety of the sidewalk.
McKay says Mallory Kirchhoff is doing the same thing with the Atlantic Senior Class as one of the ways to recognize them individually in their cap and gown, free of charge.
These photos will be edited and printed on banners and displayed proudly on 7th street in Atlantic at no cost to the senior.
The photos will be taken on April 16, 17, 18, and 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The booking website address is: https://classof2020.simplybook.me/v2/ Due to physical distancing, the photographer will not be coming up to the door. All photos will be taken from the sidewalk or yard for everyone’s safety.
