(Avoca) AHSTW grad Brayton Tuma will have a new home for his second season of college football this fall.
Tuma has transferred from Northwestern College to Peru State. He describes Peru State as a better fit for his personality and academically. He calls the transfer a tough decision to make, but one that had to be done. He found exactly what he was looking for in Peru State. “I found a family when I walked in. It was more my personality, my type of team, and my type of people. People that I was able to hang out with, work out with, I had a lot more teammates in my area academically.”
Tuma spent his freshman season at Northwestern playing running back. He has nothing but good things to say about the coaches and teammates he had with the Red Raiders. “It was a new experience. I thought I was ready for it and then you step on that college field and everyone is good.” He adds, “It took a lot of work to get to where I wanted to be, but it was fun and I loved it and I’m ready for round two.”
He’ll likely be a wide receiver moving forward. He admits he has a pretty good set up to get his offseason work in. “I have a gym in my garage so I’m able to work out everyday as normal. My neighbor has a full, empty lot next to me so my brother and I can go run drills and play catch. I wish that all of my teammates could do that, but with everything going on that’s not the case.”
