(Ames) Iowa State AD Jamie Pollard has issued a letter to all Cyclone fans amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The letter specifically addresses financial challenges faced as a result of events being canceled.
After virtual meetings with coaches and staff throughout the past week, a one-year temporary pay reduction for athletic department coaches and certain staff has been put in place. The move will reduce the payroll by more than $3 million. Bonuses and incentives for coaches have been suspended which will yield a $1 million savings.
Pollard says the changes will help absorb the impact of a $5 million shortfall that came from the cancellation of the NCAA and Big 12 Basketball Tourneys.
