(Omaha) AHSTW graduate Heidi Hall is a distance runner on the track team at Omaha. Her sophomore outdoor season has gone by the wayside due to coronavirus.
Hall says everything she did throughout the indoor season was building up for what she’d be focusing on during the outdoor season. She admits she wasn’t surprised when the outdoor season got cancelled. “I knew that it was the best decision for our nation and for our own health.”
Hall is a 10,000 meter runner and says she’s been looking forward to competing in that event ever since the end of last season. She’ll have the opportunity compete for three more seasons if she chooses to, but is leaning towards graduating in two years and finishing her career at that time. “I’ve been focusing on school and what I enjoy and I know there is a lot more to life than running.” She adds, “Running is a part of me and is something that I do and enjoy, but it’s not who I am. I’m looking forward to finishing school and doing track on the side and still excelling in both.”
Hall is looking forward to welcoming former teammate, incoming recruit, and close friend Kinsey Scheffler next year. “She will be a really great asset for our team. She’s an all around great athlete. The fact that she chose track made me happy and the fact that she chose Omaha when should could have gone anywhere made me really relieved.”
Hall is also a member of the Maverick’s cross country team. In the fall she competed in all six meets and scored in all of them. She was top runner on the team in one meet and the team’s #2 runner in the other five competitions. She finished 23rd in the Summit League Championships with a 6K season best time of 22:30.7
