(Red Oak) The Red Oak School Board approved Superintendent Tom Messinger’s resignation at their meeting Monday evening.
Tom Messinger said last Thursday he interviewed at the Newton School District and Monday night the Red Oak School Board approved his resignation and the Newton School District approved his contract there. Messinger’s resignation is effective at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
Messinger said Monday night the board discussed what kind of search the Board wished to do. He said the board did ask that they get proposals from a couple of different search companies and so there will be a couple of proposals for their meeting tonight and they will be deciding whether to approve one of those or seek another process.
The Red Oak School Board will meet in special session tonight at 7:00 p.m. to discuss/approve the Superintendent Search; discuss/approve sequence of events and alternatives for the Red Oak Early Childhood Center; and discuss/approve salary range for the new Superintendent for the 2020-2021 school year.
In other news from the Red Oak School Board meeting Monday, the board approved contract agreements with Essex School District and Red Oak Community School District for shared Art Instructor and shared Spanish Instructor for the 2020-2021 school year.
The board approved the hiring of Barb Lombard as substitute van driver for the 2019-2020 school year, and the resignation of Savannah Gohlinghorst as Jr/Sr High Business Teacher effective at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
