(Atlantic) The Atlantic Schools Booster Club and the facility improvement committee are pleased to announce that Atlantic Bottling Company and the Tyler family have offered a matching grant of up to $100,000 for the Trojan Bowl renovations.
The matching fund can be raised from now until the end of March 2020. “Atlantic Bottling Company is excited to partner with the Booster Club and facility improvement committee because of the critically important role Atlantic’s school system is in attracting new residents and future employees,” according to the press release.
For several decades Atlantic has been home to the Atlantic Bottling Company, and they appreciate the support the community has shown them throughout the years. They view this fundraising project as their way to give back. Atlantic Bottling Company recognizes the improvements that are underway with the Atlantic Community Schools athletic facilities, all of the great work that has been done by the Atlantic community and hopes the community will meet their matching grant financial challenge.
The 9.5-million-dollar bond issue to make a major improvement to Atlantic’s current outdoor athletic facilities was passed in April with a 65.7% approval rate. Since the passage of the bond issue, the Atlantic Board of Education approved the addition of field turf at the Trojan Bowl. The Booster Club and the facility improvement committee have worked with private donors to offset the additional cost of the field turf. Currently, $115,000 has been collected or pledged. If Atlantic Bottling’s matching grant financial challenge is reached by the end of March that would generate another $200,000 toward the project.
The Atlantic Schools Booster Club is a 501 3c non-profit organization. A dedicated account allowing individuals to make a tax-free donation to the project has been established at Rolling Hills Bank and Trust. They welcome any donations of any amount by individuals or businesses.
Donors are asked to please make checks payable to Atlantic Schools Booster Club and mail to Rolling Hills Bank and Trust, Attn: Emily Freund, 1307 E. 7th Street, Atlantic, Iowa, 50022.
